JUST IN-Ndindi Nyoro narrowly escapes assassination attempt along Mbagathi Road hours after ditching UDA
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has narrowly escaped an assassination attempt this evening at around 10 pm along Mbagathi Road in Nairobi, when his convoy was sprayed with bullets while he was heading home after the launch of his political direction.
The lawmaker was heading home in his entourage from the Safari Park Hotel on Monday evening, where he had declared that he had ditched UDA and opted to join the People’s Party of Kenya. This is when his vehicle was suddenly approached by two men on a motorcycle who sprayed bullets at his vehicle while he was approaching Mbagathi Hospital.
Sources close to the incident have revealed that five gun shots where fired at his vehicle, hitting his driver, who suddenly lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a ditch. Luckily, the lawmaker was not hurt in the shocking incident. The assassins are said to have fled in the opposite direction, with the entire motor entourage forcing to stop and causing a major traffic snarl along the busy highway. Police have arrived at the scene, and the investigation into the matter is currently underway.
The incident comes after the member of parliament announced that he had cut ties with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and joined the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The lawmaker said his decision followed nearly a year of consultations and introspection, during which he engaged several opposition leaders, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, former Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya and Fred Matiang’i, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Siaya Governor James Orengo.
